That will be plenty adequate for your setup.

Thanks Alex

Workin on data for part2 of the guide, seems 1066 2T is best upto NB core clock of 2.2GHZ then DDR800 4-4-3-12 1t takes over...in 3dmark 06 cpu bench

more soon

I can't help but be excited about AMD having something to offer on the enthusiast front again. I guess overclocking AMD has just always felt more natural to me, seeing as I was raised on it.

Actually Tony I have not even tried to go past 1066 Divider set just trying to use a practical approach to learning the new Architecture before jumping into another facet of the mix I will eventually trust me on that! So far I really like the Ram Allot 1066 @1.8vdimm set in Bios 5-5-5-18 - 23-195ns so I am working on it just taking my time Phenom in my eyes should not be approached balls to the wall until full understanding of whats going on is in place but thats me but on the same token I have 2800mhz @1.23v so that makes me happy and I have yet to have or experience a single issue with this B3 where some are not as fortunate but from what I see is that they do not posses the articulated touch that is required and still trying to apply the logic of K8 to the Mix ...which it aint!

I head the words from you and Robert when you say release the old thoughts associated with K8 and move on to the new

Little update on DFI Vdimm bios and the real vdimm

Was hoping to alter bios to get it reading correctly but the versions of modbin I have here that opens the bios correctly will not allow any changes...so i will be mailing Jimmy with the findings here in the hope they will alter the bios options.

For now please be aware the board overvolts the memory quite a lot, setting 1.8v in bios actually sets 1.93v on the board.

for your enjoyment i have mapped out what i regard the true working range.

on the left the bios value....on the right the actual value measured with a DMM.

Code:
1.38=1.50
1.39=1.51
1.40=1.53
1.41=1.54
1.42=1.55
1.43=1.56
1.44=1.575
1.45=1.58
1.46=1.59
1.47=1.60
1.48=1.62
1.49=1.63
1.50=1.64
1.51=1.645
1.52=1.65
1.53=1.66
1.54=1.67
1.55=1.69
1.56=1.70
1.57=1.71
1.58=1.72
1.59=1.73
1.61=1.75
1.62=1.76
1.63=1.77
1.64=1.78
1.65=1.79
1.66=1.8
1.67=1.81
1.68=1.82
1.69=1.83
1.70=1.84
1.71=1.85
1.72=1.86
1.73=1.87
1.74=1.88
1.76=1.89
1.77=1.9
1.78=1.91
1.8=1.93
1.82=1.94
1.83=1.95
1.85=1.97
1.87=1.99
1.90=2.01
1.93=2.03
1.96=2.06
2.0=2.08
2.03=2.12
2.07=2.15
2.12=2.19
2.16=2.23
2.21=2.28
2.26=2.32

I will suggest to DFI this is all we actually need, most DDR2 is topping out on the 790FX M2R around 2.1 to 2.2V max, so allowing to 2.3 is more than enough.

I've been following a couple threads here, and a few @ XS. can't register to post at XS because the turing test image won't load. Sigh. Can't email mod to ask about it... need the chars from the image. Double Sigh.

Regardless... I just got my 9850, and I have the GB 790FX-DS5, and a TY to Tony 2 x OCZ Platinum XTC PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL5-4-4-15 DDR2

So Hi everyone! and I am glad to be part of the action now

One quick question - The mobo gives me what seemto be rather high SPD settings for 400mhz op: like 6-6-6-18-25.... Will i have to manually set these lower? Or is it a side effect of running 8GB - 4 slots populated?

Thanks.

And Now to dig into the BIOS
